The Black Bean Burgers

Today I decided to try one more black bean burger recipe. The last time I tried it didn't turn out great, despite my flawless instruction following. This time I was inspired by a similar but different recipe from a YouTube channel I recently started following, that has easy and surely very tasty vegan recipes. I'll put the channel's link in the end of this post because everyone should check it out.

I followed the instructions as best as I could but I changed some ingredients because I was using things I already had at home.

This recipe makes about 6 or 7 burgers. For me it was 6 burgers and a baby.

Ingredients I Used
  • 2 Big Potatoes cut in small cubes;
  • 1 Large can of Black Beans, drained;
  • 1 Medium Onion, chopped;
  • Red Bell Pepper, chopped (free amount);
  • Coriander, chopped (free amount);
  • Olive Oil;
  • Flour;
  • Seasoning to taste (Salt, Pepper, Garlic...).

How I Did It

1. Saute the onions and the potatoes in a little bit of olive oil until the potatoes start to get soft (about 10 minutes in medium heat);

2. Add the bell pepper and cook for about 5 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked. Season to taste;

3. Put the black beans in a separate bowl and add the potato mixture. Stir and taste to adjust the seasoning. Add the coriander and let it cool for a few minutes;

4. When it's cold enough to handle use hands to combine everything together. A food processor can be used but I don't have one and I don't think it would be worth the extra washing.

5. After everything is combined form patties and cover them with a bit of flour. Now they're ready to cook!

I covered mine and put them in the fridge for about 30 minutes so they could be easier to handle. I also followed the instructions and cooked the burgers about 4 minutes each side.

In conclusion this recipe is great and for sure I'll be cooking this at least once a week! The two human meat eaters that I live with were very impressed by the black bean burgers as well.
