Hair Makover

My hair has been unhealthy since I remember. I always loved having different colors in my hair, but when I was younger I spent at least 4 years with red and orange hair, with bleaching in between. When I finally was done with that I decided to get a little hair cut, put brown dye on it and let my hair grow without putting more damaging products, reducing the use of the straightening iron and, of course, cutting it slowly once in a while. The damage was so extensive that it didn't even make sense to cut too short because I would be bald.
After a little over a year my hair was starting to get healthy so I decided (without having a hair cut first) to attempt to DIY the Ombre look. It didn't turn out too bad and it did take out a lot of the brassiness left from the previous red hair dyes. I made a post in the blog showing the before and after results.

This summer I was working at a very fun place (sales job) where they encourage people to be adventurous and fun with their looks. For me that's the perfect job. I dyed my blonde ombre parts bright pink once with a pink washable hair mask. It turned out so good that eventually I got too excited and decided to bleach almost all of my hair to dye it in fun colors. Smart decision for someone who has been healing their hair for more than a year...

I eventually did it. To get my hair to a blond that could actually be toned I had too bleach my hair in three different occasions. My hair was fried. After a few days I toned it and it wasn't horrible. But still fried.
Even though my hair didn't look horrible after I toned it there were still a lot of yellow/orange parts so I decided to use the same bright pink hair mask to dye my hair bright pink.

The bright pink mask has been my absolute best friend since I had this bright idea, I really love having pink hair. You can see some orange parts there but I like the effect and I think it's really pretty. The only problem is that it fades very fast to pastel tones, witch are less forgiving of my bleaching/frying doings. So, for now I retouch at least once a week. At least it doesn't damage my hair.

almost with all the pink faded
This week I got a hair cut and, for that I let the pink fade out completely just to see the extent of the damage and how much color correcting was needed to fix my hair. Me and my hairstylist decided on layers without taking too much of the length. Once again, if we would cut all the damaged parts I'd be left with a very short Bob or something. Regarding the color, for now I'l bee playing with these colored masks until my hair is ready for color correction. I also will be doing a lot of deep conditioning and cutting it in probably 4 months from now.

Next time I decide to do something crazy to my hair I'll for sure seek the help of my trusted hairstylist and leave the DYIng for the furniture.
