One night about 7 weeks ago John and his friends were playing cards in the park, like they usually do, when some guy from their town showed up with a dog saying she had been following him for a long time. Noticing the man had no conditions to take care of a lost dog, John said he and his friends would take care of her until the owners were found or other solution came up. So that's what they did. They walked around with her a lot to see if she could find the way home by smell or something, but because it was already 3 AM they decided to go to the police to see if anything could be done. Of course not, the pound will open in the morning, they said...
After long hours of walking John decided to take the dog home to rest. At home she was a bit agitated but ended up falling asleep, she seemed to have walked a lot, her back feet were severely wounded and she had trouble walking.
The next morning John and a friend of his walked around the area again to see if anyone would recognize the dog, and they also left their information in a bunch of places (including the police). Later we posted on social media and searched to see if anyone was looking for her. Until this day no one has contacted us. We also called the vet to see if everything was okay and to give her all the shots just to be safe.
To be honest this seems those kinds of cases where people abandon their dogs to go on holiday or because they start getting too big. In this puppy's case she is very strong, big and loves to use her teeth to play. I believe those people don't even deserve the honor that is the loyalty and love of an animal. But, in the back of my mind I can't stop wondering about some worried and sad family who lost their beloved dog.

THE BABY |
Despite the wounded feet from walking too much (I imagine), this is a very social, friendly, playful and fearless dog. Her fur was beautiful when the guys found her and she already kind of knew the word "NÃO" ("no" in Portuguese) and maybe she had some sitting lessons too because she learned that pretty fast.
Why would someone abandon such a sweet being?
We now have a new member in our family. Her name is Jessie (Pokemon inspired) and she is a huge 6 month old Labrador x Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy, she weights more than 20 Kg!
